Dear Guests!

Why should you visit the unconventional milieu of 48 Restaurant and Bar and gather yourself a lifelong experience?

There is an old, tarnished building located in Bánk Bán street, where our eclectic-loft-styled restaurant received its place after its entire restoration. It is a living history book for today’s man as it gave place to the revolutionary government in 1848. In the 90s, it was the clubhouse of the Independent Smallholder’s Party, and from a couple of houses further was born the praised figure of the 19th century, József Katona, the author of the Bánk Bán.

During the long, historic years, it went through more conversions and extensions, which is why during the design of the building, the further consideration of the historic eclecticism got a huge role in the formation of the interior. Before the times of the present reconstruction, the house stood unexploitedly as a run-down, pathetic torso which lost its inner world. Just its outside gives a hint of its one-time tarnish, about the secessionist evolved into eclectic world-style which was formed by more reparations over time.

Come here to this historical world, we are certain that you will be a part of a culinary adventure!

Spacious spaces and an intimate, familiar atmosphere are waiting for you! You will arrive to a beautiful environment where comfort and luxury encounter each other! We offer you first-class meals, unique dishes, delicacies!

We prepare our meals only with fresh and high-quality ingredients. During preparation, we emphasize the process of completion and last but not least the flavours. We pay attention to harmony, we do not aim for goodness but for excellence. We are not satisfied with the ordinary, our goal is to stand out every day.

Who and what guarantees you this?

The team and their leader, Chef Károly Varga, whose quoted words are: “I would rather stay to be a simple, provincial cook who respects and loves his profession and colleagues”, who is vitalized by the affection of the guests day by day.

He is very grateful for his schools and his tutors every day, who taught him for sound, righteous work and gave him lifelong pieces of advice, which are also determinative in his life today.

To his mind, there is no one, who knows everything in this profession, in fact, if someone deals with it more deeply, he will notice more that his endeavour is hopeless:)

What piece of advice does he give to his young colleagues, releasing them to their own path?

“Only pay attention to the constructive, meritorious critiques, believe in yourselves, learn and work further with your souls and hearts for the rise of the Hungarian gastronomy!”

Here stands some titles, awards, which he received during his career for the tribute of his work:
